As stated in the title, I’m taking the ACT for the first time next week. I’ve been studying for a few weeks-taking the ACT so soon was a very last minute decision- and was feeling the best I could about taking a standardized test with minimal preparation. Then I started reading more about preparation books and, apparently, the book I’ve been using to study is very subpar (I’m using Barron’s 2nd edition). This is the only book I own for ACT and there’s, obviously, no time to buy and look through another. My question is: is there a place online I can find an old ACT test to practice on? Additionally, what key concepts should I be studying? I don’t need help in English, but I’m worried about my math grade (So far I’ve pulled the main concepts from Barron’s and watched videos on them through Khan Academy). In order to get into the college I plan on attending, all I need is a 21 overall score. Any tips would be helpful as well.
Yes - you can definitely find some free ACT tests online. CC is fussy about cut and pasting of links but google “retired ACT test free” and you will get a hit.
My kid has always scored within 1 point (and always 1 point better) than the last official practice test he did before the real thing so that should give you a good sense of how you will do. A 21 is not a difficult score if you’re a reasonably good high school student. That’s around the average score.
Thank you for the advice! I scored a 27 composite, which is enough to get me in and get on the honors roll. Thanks again for the help!
ACT also offers on line test prep for an annual fee.
