<p>I'm currently a Junior enrolled in AP English Language trying to get into UPenn. This is my first year taking AP Classes, so I'm trying to rack up as much credit as possible (AP Environmental, Chemistry, United States History, Human Geography, Psychology, English Language). Should I also take the AP English Literature exam? I do pretty well when it comes to literature, I got a 720 on the subject test for it. I'm confident that I will pull a 5 on the English Language exam, but I'm not too sure about the Literature one... Should I sign up for it either way, and see how it goes? Worst comes to worst, I'm taking AP English Literature next year, anyway.</p>
<p>The only real positive factor to this would be to demonstrate my skills with the English Language, getting two fives, or a five and a four on both English exams. Would a 720 on the English Literature exam equate to a 5 on the AP Exam? Is the exam worth the $100? Would it be worth taking the exam, just to be able to say that I took 7 APs Junior year? Should I do any additional readings? I'm already self-studying 3 APs (Human Geo, Environmental, Psychology), would adding Literature be too much of a hassle? I can barely organize my time, as it is (I got a C in APUSH last semester, never opened my book... :/ <em>now, I have an A</em>)</p>
<p>I just looked through the 1999 practice test, and I feel as if I won’t have a problem pulling a five. I’m more into poetry, than I am into rhetoric (even though I’m the Captain of Speech and Debate). </p>
<p>Bottom line is, is it worth the money? Will it help me in any way, shape, or form? I won’t be getting English college credit twice, I know, but would taking it this year help me get into an Ivy League’s English program?</p>
<p>By the way, addressing my C in APUSH, I got a five on the practice exam for APUSH. I discarded my school’s textbook (Brinkley), and replaced with with AMSCO. Now, I’m acing the tests, and I’m rereading past chapters and getting A’s on the practice tests. I’m confident that I may be able to pull a five; so I don’t think APUSH will be too much of a wall in getting me into somewhere decent, if anything, AP Chemistry is doing that, lol.</p>
<p>If you’re self-studying Human Geo, you’re wasting your time since Penn does not give credit for it. As for Lit, if you’ve read most of the reading list, sure take the test. Will it look impressive on your application? No.</p>
<p>I believe OP wants to take the test this year in order to show it on the college application next year. If s/he takes the test next year, college will not see the score at decision time.</p>
<p>I’m also a junior and I’m taking the lit exam as well. Honestly it’s easy to get a 4. Here’s the thing about lit. You either know it or you don’t. There’s little you can study for. I’m in your situation (self-studying HG, Psych, and NSL and taking Calc and Enviro) however lit needs little study. (One of my friends did not study and got a 5). I say you should take it OP if you feel confident.</p>
