Taking the general chemistry courses out of order?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could recommend whether I should take Chem 6B or Chem 6A first. Would I have to review anything beforehand?

I got a 4 on the AP chemistry exam, so I know that I won't be able to get any credit for Chem 6A, but I don't want to take the honors series.

I'm only asking because I've read generally positive things about Professor Albizati on ratemyprofessors, and he will be teaching Chem 6B this fall quarter. Otherwise, I plan on taking Chem 6A with Professor Crowell.

If you got a 4 on your AP exam, you automatically skip chem6A and take chem6B.
This is what I understand.

If you take chem6A, you won’t get credit.

Yes, you go straight to chem6b. If you need to take 6a for med school you can take it any time. My friend got a 5 on his chem AP test, took the ochem series his freshmen year, then went back to take the chem6 series out of order his 2nd year. :stuck_out_tongue: He would joke about taking chem143a (ochem lab) and chem6b at the same time hahah.

If you’re even REMOTELY thinking about taking 6a eventually, just take it fall quarter. The material will be fresh in your mind, and taking it with Crowell will get you the easiest A of your life.
