My school requires us to take the PSAT as a sophomore. I've practiced the SAT a few times, but my scores are rubbish. I'm terrified of taking the PSAT in October. I'm just wondering does this count if I want to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program. Or will I have to take the PSAT again when I'm a junior to qualify for it? I sure hope it's the latter that's true.

NMSQT are for Juniors only.

Freshmen/Sophomore scores does not count.

Treat the sophomore PSAT as a good indicator of how much you should study for the junior PSAT. Don’t stress about it.

There is no point in studying for the PSAT for your sophomore year.
