I'm just curious to see what songs you guys/gals chose to write about.

if you've watched Spirited Away then you would understand. it is the ending song.

This was definitely the weakest part of my supplement. I chose "Bennie and the Jets" cause people could sing along. Plus I could slur the words if I forgot them. Whatever, I got accepted anyway!

i did hey jude by the beatles because it's the quintessential uplifting song, everyone would sing along, and because its just freaking awesome. i know, cliche, but it got me in!

I put baba o'riley by the who for my song.

mailed out the secondary report, transcript, and letters of rec yesterday...so I've finished my nyu app!

i picked handlebars by flobots.

^sansri, i'm jealous. i'm having someone look over my essay and then i'll be hitting the submit button.

carly simon's you're so vain.

^ good choice!

thank you. :)

hey wasnt that song written about mick jagger

I got accepted into stern and wrote about simple plans "perfect"-you can put alot of cheesy stuff about it =]

hahaha, no one knows.

I chose "Lose Yourself" by Eminem because it motivates me to keep going and not give up.

I debated about whether to use a rap song..but it did win an Academy Award...so in the end, I went with it.

I put "Louder Than Words" from the Jonathan Larson musical Tick, Tick, Boom! Put it because of the message it communicates and also because its the kind of song that I personally, could sing along to.

Without Reason by The Fray

whew, I thought everyone would pick songs that their grandmothers sung to them or something, but my choice seems okay. I love this song and its lyrics!

oh and my song was in japanese which is a language i do not speak or write. i read a translation and watched a documentary to get a really good idea of what it stands for. i loved writing that little bit.

carly simon's Let the River Run ;)

I did "Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes. It worked---I was accepted!

I did 100 years by Five for Fighting and got in

this is an interesting thread, so i'm bumping it. : )
