All of the online college information sources I have looked at tell me that "special talents" are amongst the many admissions factors that are concidered during the decision making process. Do talents have a big influence on the decision, or do you still need to have impecable stats to get in? And yes, i know there is no magical formula for getting in.

Special talents do have a big influence on admissions decision, but unless your special talent is incredible, like Tiger Wood's golf skills, you need to be pretty well round in terms of academics and stats too.

Uh no you dont need to be "talented" to get in. There isn't enough talent to go around in the Ivy League. YOu DO need to be however, dedicated, and PASSIONATE in whatever you choose to do. This can mean volunteering, playing the violin, solving math problems, or whatever. The logic is that as long as you do something you love, you will excel and earn recognition for what you do. But no, you dont need to be Michelle Wie, Tiger Woods, or Taylor Hicks to get into Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Princeont or w.e (although Ms. Wie is going to stanford and harry potter is going to Princeotn...) lol.
