Talk to current BUers

http://community.livejournal.com/bunite/

Reminding people that there are a few BU boards on LiveJournal (click this link)and its a great place to ask questions of current students. Right now on BUnite there is a lot of talk about housing since there are waiting to get upperclassmen housing for next year. Check it out.

Just a word of caution: People on that board tend to get a little upset when people ask questions that have been asked before. They have a really elaborate memories system there, so search through that first before asking a lot of questions. They may jump on you. It is getting better with people being nicer, but it is a little bit of a problem. Saying that, I love BUnite :) You can find me with the same name over there.

So you can click on the memories sction and see what students have to say about a variety of topics from dorms to social life at BU.

I just registered there, but how do I post on the board? Everytime I try, it ends up going to my "journal."

Here is my post that I wanted to put on there, just in case I can't post for some reason and you (Dogs or DramaQueen) are able to do it:

Hey all,

I just joined this forum, and am excited to learn some things here regarding BU since I'll be a Freshman there this fall (COM).

Anyway, I checked the BU website in terms of finding classes I can take 1st semester and have narrowed it down to these 9 (I'll of course only choose 4). COM 101, Way of the World is already a given, since I have to take that one. As for the other 8 classes:

-Astronomy 101 (Professors are Mendillo and Clarke)** #
-Natural Disasters (Professor Staff...?)** #
-CAS LS111 (Spanish)
-Freshman Seminar (Writing class)
-History: US to 1865 (Professor Roberts)#
-Principles in Sociology (like an intro)#
-American Revolution (Prof. McConville)
-Civil War Era (Prof. Silber)
-US: 1945-1968, First Half or Cold War (Prof. Schulman).

** I realize I cannot take both of these classes, because inclusing discussion, having both, along with Way of the World would not work time-wise, as their times cross at certain points.

Means there's a lecture, then discussion/lab

I can always take these classes second semester, or even in my Sophomore year. My question to you is, do you know anything about these classes, and if so, how are they - entertaining, tough, not worth my time, etc.? I really like what Natural Disasters seem to be from it's description, gut I can always take that 2nd semester if it doesn't really fit into my schedule.

So again, I'm only asking if you've taken any of these classes or know the professor, and if you have, what did you think of them? Also, if you have any advice on some classes I may want to look at (ones I can use to fill my reqirements) I'd really appreciate it.

This is a good website for professor evaluations:

http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/index.jsp

That website is where I check out all of my classes before I register. It is usually very acurate.

As far as posting on the livejournal: if you have joined, when you click on update in your livejournal account, you can scroll to the bottom where there is a drop-down menu asking where you want to post this entry to. You just pick BUnite instead of your username, and it will post to BUnite.

Thanks DramaQueen.

Sorry I am not a LJ member so don't know the answere to your question.
