Talking about graduate school in undergraduate admission essay?

So my first choice major is Mechanical Engineering, but I intend on getting a masters in Aerospace Engineering, maybe at UT also. Most of my extracurriculars, like RC plane building, are more related to aerospace.

for the Short Answer 1: Career Plans essay, would it be appropriate to talk about my intention of getting a masters in Aerospace if my first choice major is Mechanical?

Honestly, I think it wouldn’t matter. College know that students don’t always stick with their career plans/grad school plans anyway. You could couch it a little – say you aren’t certain what you are going to do after undergraduate, but may go on to grad school in Aerospace. Shouldn’t cause any problem. Students who are SURE, SURE, SURE of their future plans often get a tiny eye roll, I think – admissions knows that very often, students end up on a different path than they set out on, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I actually think it would be a good idea. UT has changed its essays prompts for a reason this past year. They want more personal answers than just what students submitted via ApplyTexas. I think showing thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and passion, and a line from your high school choices (experiences) to your choice of major at UT to beyond, and making it all make sense, is exactly what they are asking.
