for example…if I wanna be an US Air Force Officer… should I respond like “oh yea…I love engineering but feel passionate about fighting (flying a plane) in defense of my country…” or I should I pick a first option major for all the UCs I am applying and write an essay about that?
It might help us if you said what UCs and majors you were applying for.
Regarding this: “oh yea…I love engineering but feel passionate about fighting (flying a plane) in defense of my country…”
It’s hard to say if you should say that or not as it is just a few words out of several hundred and we don’t know where you’re going to go with it, but that quote alone doesn’t really work nor does it answer the prompt.
@alexander007 Are you planning on keeping both majors (double major or major in one and minor in the other)? If so, write about both, but try to find a connection between the two. For example, you could write that your goal is to fly a plane and explain how engineering could help you achieve it.
It’s nice that you are passionate about two different things, but you need to be able to relate them or explain well why you want to study both of them. UCs have strict policies on double majors and may easily decline your petition, unless you can convince them you could do it.
Hi there, thank you for answering I am not trying to have a double major. whats happening is that when you select a “major” on the application, next to it there is a Alt Major. so I narrowed it down to 2 majors Civil engineering as a major and Aerospace engineering as an alternative major. HOW CAN i RELATE BOTH OF THEM ON MY ESSAY? ANY IDEAS…
OP, please take note that a career and a major are two different things.
If officer cadet school (OCS) is your end goal, it’s pertinent to understand how the selection process works for OCS as your undergrad GPA matters a lot more than your major.
Just write about engineering, your passion for it, and what you want to do with a background in engineering.
If you get accepted, it probably won’t be in your alternate major, unless you have more prereqs completed for aerospace engineering than civil. Both majors are pretty selective. So if you are going to write about one in detail, write about civil. Otherwise, write about engineering generally.
Thanks guys all of you. simply well appreciated with your comments . AND YES I DO KNOW GPA MATTERS MORE THAN MAJOR IF YOU WANNA BE A PILOT. BUT i GOTTA BE AN ENGINEER ON ONE OF THOSE FIELDS… I DONT SEE MYSELF STUDYING CHEMISTRY OR SOCIOLOGY OR SOMETHING ELSE… UK.
ALSO i AM PLACING CIVIL AS MY “MAJOR” AND ALTERNATIVE MAJOR “AEROSPACE ENGINEER” …WHAT YOU GUYS THINK?? ALSO , i AM FOCUSING MY ESSAY ON CIVIL @GOLDENCLUB BUT RELATING IT A BIT WITH THE DESIGN OF A PLANE… .BEING SAID THAT HOW DOES THAT SOUND??? i APPRECIATTE THE COMMENTS
Dude, stop with the caps.
You “gotta be an engineer on one of those fields” because you want a degree in that field, or because you think it helps to become a pilot? If the latter, that isn’t true. Your degree really won’t matter so long as you have one and with a good GPA.
lol sorry about the caps kind annoying hum? I would like to be an engineer in either of those majors regardless of the pilot situation. thats y i meant I perfectly know how the pilot slot works.
Im starting to love this website … guys who is in favor of bombing the hell outta iziz lol?
