Tall People

So, I came back to campus a couple days ago and I noticed something that I didn't notice in all of last year. Is it just me, or are there a lot of tall students? The amount of 6' 2" + people I have seen today is crazy. Is there something in the water here or something that makes guys grow? There is definitely more tall people that one should expect, statistically. Is it just me or do other people notice this...?

are u asian?

lol but yeah everyone’s tall, even asians here are tall. Im 5’8’', which is like a taller than avg back at home, but meh im at a disadvantange everytime im on the basketball court >.<

No i’m not, and i’m like 5’ 11" which is a bit above average.

The average amongst college aged males in America is probably more like 6ft, or 6ft 1. Generations are getting taller.

I’m 6’4’’ … i think people r getting shorter

I’m 6’2.5-6’3, and there are plenty of people on my campus who are between 6’2 and 6’4, but there are an equal number of really short people on campus too, so it averages out. Above 6’4/6’4.5 is rare, but it is around. The tallest I’ve seen is about 6’7. In my high school, there were only about 200 seniors, so there weren’t many people over 6’2. It was very rare. But now with approx 5,000 students on my campus, 6’2-6’4 is very common. But the average is still the same, there is just much more variety in height. I can only imagine that on a huge college campus with like 20,000 people that even 6’5-6’6 would seem common.

I’m a 5’11 girl & I notice the tallness thing but not as much as I’d like to haha

I thought I was the only one that noticed this too. I’m a freshman here but yeah it is really something. I’m 6’1" and there are plenty of 6’4"+ kids.

The generations getting taller thing is mostly a myth. The average height for an American male has been 5’ 10" since 1950, and it has grown from 5’ 8" in 1750.

The tall people don’t really notice the little people as much. Unless they are looking down. ;-)

yea i was 6’2 when i was on campus, and felt just “normal height”. michigan has a lot of tall dudes.

Short people got… no reason to…

Yeah I know that I feel the same way…I am not sure that this is statistically possible…I mean, I am 5’10", which is average in America, but I feel like I am 5’5" here. It is not normal to have so many 6’4" and over guys.

there must be a correlation between brains and height

^ Definitely a negative one considering the number of dumb jocks

there are exceptions…

like athletes at the school

and asians

Lol thats another thing. Even the Asians at Michigan, who are (nothing against them) usually shorter than average, are really tall.

I’ve seen some tall ones. I might not notice it as much. It’s kinda hard to tell when your 6’4’'

Lol, you are part of the problem MLDWoody! Jk

or I prove my hypothesis!!!

1 is a big enough sample size for sure
