Hey guys I got my TAMS interview invitation today. If anyone has been to the interview or has taken the math tests then any input is welcome because I'm a bit nervous on what it's going to be like. Specifically I know its a group interview but what sort of questions are asked.

I got my interview letter recently too! I don’t know much about the interview but I’ve heard that’s its really relaxed and doesn’t mean much. They also have math tests on their page. I’d like to know how good of a score is expect tho. :/

Hey! I’ve heard that the algebra diagnostic tests given at the interview are super important, and most definitely logarithms are involved. I’ve also heard that the interview is too segregate kids who want to go to TAMS and have the potential from kids who are only doing it because of their parents or what not. It’s not a big deal if you really want to go. Last year, 400 people were invited for the interview, and only 197 people got accepted.

Be bold, and be open. They want to see if you’ll be successful at TAMS; how many friends you’ll make. The interview is the final stage, and it’s not that hard.

BUT! The practice tests they gave in the mail, DO IT!! Act like the TAMS admission committee is going to grade that! Those math tests on Interview Day are really really really important!!

I haven’t gone to the interview, because I’m applying for regular decision, and I get the letter only sometime after January. But, I’ve been reading and reading about TAMS and other colleges, and I’ve found a lot of good information.

(Even though I’m not OP thanks!)

Any of you know kids who had to get out of TAMS after junior year and come back to their home ISD for 12 th Grade? How does Plano ISD give credit for TAMS courses? Is it better to drag yourself through TAMS with a low GPA or get out at Junior year if the going is tough? What happens if you get kicked out at the 1st semester of 12 th grade?

If you guys have any specific questions about the TAMS program or the interview process, email tams.outreach@**** and they can answer all of your questions (that is a gmail email address in case it blocked it out). You can also be connected with a current student to ask them questions about their experience with the interview and with things in general about being a TAMS student. It’s a great resource!
