We just purchased my son's meal plan for the Fall 2014 semester. I noticed they charge an 8.25% sales tax on the meal plan. Does this mean the food will not be taxed when he purchases it? We purchased a plan with $400 in Dining Dollars that was also taxed. They would be double taxing us if they also charged tax on the food when he uses the dining dollars. Anyone know how this works?

TAMU Dining just verified that if you buy a meal plan with dining dollars, you are taxed up front when you purchase the meal card. Then the tax is removed when you purchase items at stores and/or restaurants.

I know this seems a small amount to question on this board, but we will take any help we can get to reduce our college expenses.
