I was wondering if I could transfer to Columbia from ASU (Arizona State) after my freshman year. Here are my stats:

Female
Majoring in BioEngineering (or Biomed Engineering-either way, it's the same) at ASU so I want to transfer to Fu Foundation (SEAS)

SAT I : 2250 (/2400)
or in the old system (Verbal and Quant.) 1520 (/1600)
Class ranking in the top 3% of my graduating class
SAT II: Math II (730)
Chem (690)
BioM (780)
TOEFL (297/300)
I have a lot of research (engineering related) experience as well.
I used to be involved in Future Scientists and Engineers of America, NHS, Global Youth Leadership Council etc. in HS and I am already planning on joining several clubs/seminar programs/internships (if possible) at ASU.
My mom also graduated from Columbia, though I don't know if this will help much. My family is in Manhattan so I won't need housing etc. either.

So what do y'all think? Could a transfer be possible or is it too much of a 'reach'?

Columbia is not a high reach for you, you have a very good chance of getting in. I am transferring to SEAS for Biomedical Engineering as a female from Drexel University with a 3.91, no legacy. I think you would be a very strong candidate.
Feel free to PM me if you want to know about the essays.

Far less people apply to SEAS, because there's a greater self-selection process. People don't apply to SEAS because they are afraid they would be stuck in SEAS, it is difficult. It's a national trend, far more applicants to Liberal Arts schools than Engineering Schools.
