TASP 2015

just scheduled my interview for my birthday next week! i’m so excited and nervous.

@Obraynerd‌ I wouldn’t be so sure! I live in a tiny town and I was deeply surprised that they found an alum for me! Worst come to worst, you’ll do a Skype interview.

Hey guys! So who’s had the interview? Mine is set for tomorrow.

Hey, glad to hear your interview went well. By the way, what kinda did they ask you - open-ended ones, why you do certain things the way you do, how would you characterize your life, current events…?

@pubkid Yeah I’d love to hear how yours went too! I’m expecting the normal interview questions with a little twist.

What do I wear to the interview?

^ Something professionally casual.

Agh my interview is tomorrow!

Hey, how did it go?

has anyone who’s gotten past the first stage not been contacted for an interview? getting worried…

Hey @claraoswald, you should certainly contact them at this point. Just to make sure everything’s going smoothly.

For anyone wondering ( @MonaLon‌ , I’m looking at you! ), my interview went …well? Mostly? I think.
It was very very challenging. They were asking me about my essays (almost entirely). Actually, my interviewer was two people, so that was interesting. But they asked me about how to put my somewhat utopian ideas into practice and they were reading to me about what other people had said about my topics. The guy also asked me what I thought about certain statement, and it turned out my answer was almost exactly what the other interviewer thought, so that could be hit or miss…I honestly don’t know what to think. But I’m really hoping I made the cut!

@Smargent I’m happy you had a fun time! Mine was a lot of fun, but like you, I was struggling with some crazy topics they threw at me. Like my essays dealt with a lot of technology stuff so they threw me some philosophical questions. Luckily I’d tackled with them before and I told them that these were things that I had been thinking about for a while, so I wasn’t going in completely blind.

How old were your interviewers?

My interviewer was in her mid-twenties @MonaLon‌ , and the interview overall felt really challenging. I felt like I was floundering a lot of the time but I did get a few good points in, at least I hope. I really, REALLY hope I make it in.

my interviewer was actually a college sophomore! i was pretty surprised cause i did a TASS interview last year (didn’t get in though HAHA) and my interviewers then were like late-20s, early 30s-ish. it was definitely not an easy interview but my interviewer was super friendly and i had a lot of fun talking to him c: i think my interview might’ve been a little more casual compared to other people’s because i only had one (very young) interviewer–we actually deviated a lot from my essays and it ended up being more of an extended conversation.

My interviewer was an older woman and a young (probably college graduate) man. @persnicketylemon‌ I would actually have preferred that. I’m much better at deviation than I am at staying on task.

@Smargent‌ HAHA really who isn’t??

Sorry everyone, I just checked this! I hope we find out soon :frowning:

Who did you all get letters of recommendation from?

I got my rec from my English teacher! She was a little slow at getting it done but it all worked out
