TASP 2015

How did you guys rank the seminars? My top 2 were michigan 1 and cornell 2

Just submitted! My preferences were Michigan 1, Michigan 2

Supremely disappointed that nobody went and reviewed with me… But nice to see that everybody is last minute editing too.

Hey I was going to but you never invited my email! Heehee, it’s okay though I had my essays looked over by like 10 people.

Anyways, my choices were Michigan 2, Cornell 1, Cornell 2, and Michigan 1.

Seems like Michigan 1 is a popular choice!

Michigan 1, Cornell 1, Michigan 2, Cornell 2… 1 more essay left lol

This thread is pretty quiet compared to last year’s, maybe fewer people are applying?

I wrote amazing essays within a timespan of 4 days

  1. Analysis of War and Peace (yes, I read all 1200 pages)
  2. My interest in engineering MRI machines after interning at GE, electrical engineering being the field of study
  3. Troubles I went through before winning a sub-category within last year’s ISEF and how that changed my view of the world
  4. How I want to become a professor at a research institue, preferably Caltech, and develop medical equipment available at extremely low costs to 3rd world countries

My PSAT score was 239, 4.9 GPA at 6th highest ranked high school in nation

Good luck to everyone who turned in! btw my choices were Cornell 2, Michigan 2, Michigan 1 and Michigan 2

Oops. I meant Cornell 2, Michigan 2, Michigan 1, Cornell 2.

@californiasailor‌ That’s really quite impressive. Uh but are you positive you got a 239? It wasn’t possible to get a 239 because of the increments on the scoring scale for 2014. Unless you took the PSAT some other year, or something, I guess. Also, your previous posts would suggest you got a 210. I really don’t want to start any conflicts, but writing about how great your application is–especially if it’s not true-- causes a lot of unwelcome anxiety.

Good luck though, to you, and to everyone else. I just submitted, going for Michigan II, Cornell II, Michigan I, Cornell I.

@californiasailor t r o l l alert…

Oh man I only realized after I submitted my application (shouldn’t have waited until last minute) that I forgot to make any mention of my awards and extracurriculars, etc. Am I screwed?

Whoo, first post! Mine was submitted 3 minutes after the deadline because my internet was being so slow. I’m breaking down a little bit.

I know people from other TASP forums have sent theirs in a little late, too, but they never said anything after that. Did y’all get a confirmation e-mail saying that the form was submitted yet? Or does it happen later? I don’t want my effort to be for no reason… I worked my ass off.

Can you not update after you have submitted? Forgot to include an important scholarship…

@ccstudent101 I doubt it. It wouldn’t let me go back to my application when I tried just now.

I got the e-mail that said it submitted! I’m excited! Hopefully I’m in the clear.

Same here! That was incredibly stressful. I checked the timestamp, though, and it says that it was submitted at 12:02 EST. I’ve emailed the TASP queries address with a screenshot of my verification and asked them if my application is invalid due to the timestamp, and will hopefully get a response by tomorrow. If not, I’ll call and update here.

@peachcat Oooh thank you for this, and please come back with an update! I screenshotted my verification too, so we’re in the same boat. (cute username!)

hi I haven’t posted on this thread yet but I just wanted to express my satisfaction that I wrote all of the essays this weekend (and I think they’re pretty good) and that I got the application in literally at like 11:47 :)) Good luck to all of you!

I kind of took a risk and did my critical analysis of Monty Python and the Holy Grail but hopefully that doesn’t hurt my chances; it’s not exactly the same type of fine literature that you all seem to have used X_X

@zorba12345 Don’t sweat it, man (or woman, or genderfluid human, or agender human, or piece of void) ! I did my critical analysis in literally the last 40 minutes before I had to turn in my application. It was only 800ish words, but y’know. Shit happens - like procrastination.

What did y’all get on your PSATs? I only knew about TASP because they emailed me due to my score (218). How’d you guys hear about it?
