well its kinda too late the get the original from the trash, right...no point in fretting when you have no choice.

yeah, definitely don't worry about it. plus, telluride sends apps to a very small group of people, so there are plenty of people out there with good PSAT scores who are applying off the online app.

I have this very strong urge to break open the confidential letter of rec and read it...GAH!

**Ok quick question--I think it's been asked several times, but in different forms, so I'm confused.

For the hours per week in activity, should we just write 8 if its 8 hours per week? Or should we do it 8/12 to show 8 hours per week / 12 weeks per year?

(Was that a wierd question? >> << )

I'd just put 8, probably... Not sure though.

btw, do any other potential TASPers have AIM :D?

AIM: hibrandon03

AIM: minderbinder22

Do any other TASP hopefuls have livejournals/xangas/blogs/myspaces/etc? I have a livejournal (link in profile) and I always love new journals to read:)

Thanks SourApplez, yeah I just decided to go ahead and do it.

So, what does everyone think will be their weakest and strongest essays?
Weakest - Personal conflict
Strongest - Critical analysis

um, i just decided to apply to TASP yesterday... So I haven't given my teachers my recs yet. Does anyone have any idea how much is this going to kill me? :P

AIM: scrambled eggz12

I have no strong essays..they're all pretty weak..heh

So, I'm not quite sure why I got a letter from TASP-- I only got a 214 (98th percentile) on the PSAT, and none of my friends were invited. Could this have to do with the fact that I'm Hispanic? Will that help my chances of getting in?

Hispanic will probably help..

Anyway, I think the scores themselves are less important than the MAJORS you indicated on the test.

My weakest essay by far is the conflict! my strongest is probably toic in a field of interest...

well, i put architecture, and tasp is a humanities program...

I'm not finished yet, but I anticipate my conflict essay being my weakest, since I can't even figure out what to write it on. Strongest = topic of interest.

"Will that help my chances of getting in?"

I have the same question. I got a 213, which is 98th nationally and probably much less in my zip code, which I read is how they determine who to invite to apply. Do they take "URM" status into account in the actual admission process??

How broad are your issues?

For that essay, I was thinking about writing about how personal hubris is completely counter-productive and all of that. Or about how the counter-culture has bred a group of 'emo' kids that have numbed themselves to everything but superficial pain.

But is that too ... weird?

Somehow I doubt that content figures half as much as writing ability, style, and strength.

Ummm, style can only cover up for so much substance, and TASP is focused on creating and sharing ideas. If you have a cogent argument for your essays, then by all means go ahead. TASP isn't about conformity, you know?

Me too.
If you love physics and write about how you are going to major in it and write it really well, I doubt that they wont choose you because it isn't humanities.

Quality first, then content.

Oh, that's not what I meant. Never mind. Thanks anyway. :)
