Tasp

BLAH. TOO MANY ESSAYS.

I know a guy going to U of Michigan this year and he applied for TASP last year and got totally outright rejected. I'm rather scared. He totally trashed my essay haha it was rather sad.

I still have my crit analysis to do and finish up my uh, topics that interest me thing. Oh crud. imma probalby rewrite my effort thing too...AHHH screams and pulls out hair

This and RSI is really getting to me.

Aiyah. Too many essays!! TOO MUCH THINKING LOL

Consiglieri- I narrowed my topic down about three times. For me, it's just easier to write about clearly and analytically if the topic is more specific. I would turn the emo essay into something more scholarly and not refer specifically to "emo" kids. Perhaps something in psychology or sociology?

For me,

Strongest = educational plans and topic essays
Weakest = probably will be my conflict essay (the only one I have yet to write)

I probably shouldn't start writing this essay with such a pessimistic attitude...

Does anyone want to start a TASP chat on AIM?

aim:gochat?roomname=tasp

All my essays are good, but not spectacular I don't think.

Is Critical Analysis rather like a theme and meaning essay? Is it any different from those essays we write for school? Eh. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM GOING TO WRITE ABOUT for this and for the recent events thing.

I wish I knew what a good TASP essay is and what isn't. Its rather giving me a headache.

kissthesky- A good TASP essay is one that is honest, open-minded, intellectual, analytical, insightful, well-written, and creative. A bad one isn't.

^
LOL. Yeah, but my honest, open-minded, intellectual, analytical, insightful, well-written, and creative may not be onest, open-minded, intellectual, analytical, insightful, well-written to someone else, so...

AH.

Hmm, I would trust your own judgment... or perhaps ask someone else to look over them if you're not sure.

And also, for the critical analysis-- I believe it asks you to target the goal of the author (perhaps to convey a theme, idea, or emotion) and then describe what methods (literary devices, plot, characters, etc.) he or she uses to reach that goal.

It seems so easy when you say it, savoirfair, but but Im having such a hard time on both of them. sigh its physically impossible AH.

I have so many others things I should be studying for so its rather frustrating to be stuck on these two without much progress.

Its discouraging....SIGH.

I mean, 1000 or so of America's brightest students competing for 86 spots. Pretty competitive. :D

Is there a TASP chat on AIM? How can i join it?

thanks in advance.

isn't it superfcial in and of itself to be writing about the counter-productiveness of hubris and emo kids? wouldn't it be better to write about how society's condemnation of hubris and selfishness CAUSES the emo kids to try and separate themselves from such a hypocritical mentality? (sorry if that sounds too cynical-- i've been reading the fountainhead)
