Tasp

i called in on monday because i had no idea how it worked for internationals, but my interview guy emailed me really really late last night too. =)

so if you want to know, try (607) 273-5011! dont be scared, the lady i talked to was really nice and although i practically died of suspense and then excitement, it was worth it.

and if you want to just wait it out, dont worry!! snail mail is sloow, esp. if you're in a foreign country. good luck!

haha. lots of exclamation points. tons.

vegangirl- i know what you mean. im reading over my essays and i feel like ill screw up the interview. (i worry way too much). but i got this far, so thats encouraging.

girls: as far as clothes go ( since this seems to be a hot topic) i was thinking crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled up. opinions?

este es muy [lame]. i want my rejection letter already because i have another program i'm looking forward to...i live in missouri, did anyone get one around my vicinity yet?

chariot- That sounds good. Look nice but not pretentious.
Josh- Not getting an interview would be crazy. You're pretty much perfect for TASP.. brilliant but humble. Plus, you respect people's opinions (well, I guess that would be difficult to demonstrate through your essays).

NO mail yet! Aaaaarrgggg, I'm dying of suspense and nervousness, and its quite sad because my chances are quite slim to none and my hope is something virtually impossible. :)

I may just succumb to the suspense and the anxiety and call that number kteee suggested but....I think I'll just wait it out. The blow of rejection over the phone will probably come as a shock and kill me haha.

Ahh, good luck to all those other students waiting for their letters!

One of my closest friends made it to the interview round as well! I'm really glad we both did, because if one of us hadn't, the other one would have been very disappointed. However, the problem still stands. It seems unlikely to me that two girls from the same school will be picked for TASP. This makes me about 2059629 times more nervous, especially since she is a lot smarter than me.

On a different note, she's already been contacted by her interviewer, and I haven't. What do you think are the odds we'll have different interviewers, considering we live in the same midwestern city? I'm hoping we do, because I know I'm probably already being directly compared to my friend (given the fact that we go to the same school, had the same teachers write our recs, and have similar classes/awards), and I want as little of that as possible:)

^ TASP does want geographic diversity, but if both of you are uniquely brilliant in your own ways, there's no way they can compare the two of you and decide to accept only one. However, I can understand the awkwardness of the situation...

yeah. I know if she gets it and I don't, I'll be very jealous, and she feels the same way. Best case scenario- we'll both be chosen. if not, i guess we'll deal with it then!

Alright, I will be the first brave soul to post a rejection.

Oh well, their loss!

I still haven't received anything...

I actually gave them a call, because my summer school registration date is coming up soon.

Might as well? It's relatively painless, I promise :)

Well I don't really mind TASP that much (nor RSI, for that matter). I'd be devasted though if SSP rejected me.

I'll just wait and see how the cards play out. =)

Umm...just for your stats, if you even need it.

I got my acceptance(?) letter yesterday, and so did two others from my school.

Me - Cornell II
My Friend - Washington
My Other Friend - Cornell II

WOOOOOOW!!!! THIS LIST IS INCREDIBLE! My year, we certainly didn't have 52 pages of CC dedicated to TASP. Hell yea!
- TASP 04, Cornell

Aww, I'm sorry, hey_la. And you're right, it is definitely their lost. I'm sure everyone here is beyond qualified to attend TASP. There are just so many brilliant people out there. Anyway, so it's confirmed that TASP does send out rejection letters? No one from my school (like 15 ppl applied) got any sorts of letters from TASP yet...

EDIT: Ah, I read your next post, hey_la. Guess we still don't know if they send out rejection letters.

I got rejected today. Oh well; more time for summer running!

wang- there are multiple finalists from my school too (two of us, and we're close friends). What are your thoughts about that? I mean, do you think they'd accept multiple people from the same school? Do you and your friends have the same interviewer? I don't think my friend and I do (or at least, she's heard from her interviewer and I haven't yet).

I just got my rejection letter. I'm not at all surprised; I wasn't even planning to apply until three days before the deadline, and my essays were accordingly atrocious. Neuroscience research at Georgetown isn't too bad for a "safety" option, though, so whatever. :D

Once again, congrats to everyone who got interviews, and good luck! :)

Omg after seeing this thread I think I want to go to TASP more than college-this sounds ridiculously awesome!!!!!

I was just wondering if any of you past TASPers out there know anything about international admissions - especially from England (I'm sorry if this has been addressed... but 52 pgs is a bit much to even skim through :) )

Are there lots of English kids in the program, how competitive is it from England, do English kids fit in etc...

Oh yeah, and what are the normal essay topics on the application? Is there anything I can do to prepare for the application now (I'm a sophmore) besides just keeping up to date w/ current affairs and reading regularily?

I haven't posted much on this thread, but I got a deceptively small letter day.

"Dear RyanOG88, I am pleased to tell you...."

The handwritten signiture (I think it was) was a nice touch.

Haha, lucky thirteen
