Tasp

Hey man..I'm not a compulsive liar....

When do apps come out?

December. It's on the website and we've already discussed this. Pay attention!

NJ's gov school is for rising seniors. Other states? I dunno. Go with what theone said.

Globber (where did that name come from anyway?), what's happening with the whole volunteering-to-be-an-interviewer deal? Did they contact you, or did you sign up on the website, or what?

I'm curious :).

Man that would be so weird/awesome if we had one of you guys as our interviewers. Do you guys think you would go harder or easier?

Hmmmm.....my French trip may be cancelled if the riots don't stop by March (which seems like far away but you never know). I would absolutely love to do TASP, but should I apply anyway and if the trip is still on call them and take back my app? Would this even be worth it considering how hard it is to get into TASP?

Apply if you can (either by qualifying with PSAT scores, being nominated, or some strange way to get the app anyway... I've heard rumors that it is possible). It's definitely worth it. As far as competetiveness and other questions, look at ealier posts.

I don't know how we could interview, it would be kind of weird because we're only seniors...we should probably wait a few years.
Pyroman, assuming that we know that the person we interview is actually you (is pyro your first name or your last name, lol) then we would obviously try to get you in, at least I would... this is of course after drilling you for the toughest two hours of your young life!

lol pyro isnt part of my name its just a sort of online alias. IM me at pyromaniac1336. Oh yeah, i wasnt aware that there was this selection process to apply. I dont think that i did too well on the PSAT since i am horrible at standardized tests and no one at my school knows anything about these programs since its public and not that great. Who can i get nominated by or do you know how i could just get the app by myself?

pyroman--If you have been following the thread, everything about the selection process has been covered. Go to www.tellurideassociation.org for more info, as well as the application which generally comes out in late December. The rest of you 05ers--No, of course you would not be interviewing as High School seniors, but you may have the opportunity later, in college. Were any of your fellow TASpers interviewed by High School students? ... I didn't think so!

Sorry to invade your thread, but I checked the TASP website today and the seminar topics for 2006 are up, thought you all might like to know. Good luck to everyone who's applying!

Hmmmm....the one on Medieval romance looks interesting...

The Ties That Bind: Exploring the Connections and Absorbing the Lessons of the American Civil Rights Movement and the South African Anti-Apartheid Struggle *

gasp
I'd kill to go to that. If I don't get in, maybe I'll have to mail myself to St. Louis and go anyway.

That sounds so much cooler than ours, lol. I'll let you guys know if my picture is on there.

btw, pyro, I know that's not your name, lol.

Hmmm... no one from my tasp in the pics, oh well.

It feels weird being "a part of history" in the previous tasps. It's like the people from the first 1954 tasp, some of whom could be dead. freaky.

Good luck guys, if you somehow find something either I, Jsn, or Globber didn't answer, ask away.

I'll also give some advice on essay writing, they're the same every year.

The application is not actually up yet, but we'll be sure to notify you of it (and our numerous cameos in it) when it is released to the public at large.

PS: oof, they are lumping the foreign policy TASP and the medieval literature TASP into one; that just seems like breeding grounds for an inter-house catfight. Moral of this story? Michigan rawks!

lol pianoking I was just checkin.

The subject of the Cornell I program sound probably the most intersting and I would say that the one in Michigan is the second most intersting.

(btw pianoking7 did you try and im me cuz when i was at JA someone did, if it was you I added you to my buddy list)

Do any other TASPers know anyone in the pics? Haha that would be so exciting!

Um yeah I get excited easily.

You do not have to be nominated enter the program.

Someone on CC had a 228, got the app, filled it out, and eventually got in.

The pictures aren't updated yet; they probably will be when the app comes out

I'm a former TASPer that was at Cornell last summer; the topics from this year's seminar--especially the one in Austin--are rocking. Good luck to this year's applicants!
