Oh ok thank you @Intelligent08
@Brownnnnnnn I just checked my spam and found my rejection email. Not too surprised, it was all pretty last minute for me. Best of luck to all the finalists!
I emailed Ellen Baer about how many people applied to both programs and this is what she said:
We received 460 TASS applications and we selected 120 for interviews. We received ~1400 TASP applications and we selected 130 for interviews.
Regards,
Ellen Baer
I don´t know about you, but I expected more people to apply to TASS. Guess I was wrong.
Wow i thought i was more and @Intelligent08 can i have the email for TASS i dont know which one to use
Finally opened my mailbox and got the same acceptance just in letter form. @zaniahb This is the one I used: telluride@cornell.edu
I just got my acceptance letter too and thank you @Intelligent08
Where did you guys receive your letter of interview acceptance from? I received mines from Michigan. Does it matter where?
@Intelligent08 I think it’s whatever association is closest to your home–btw, where are y’all from? I’m from Georgia!
@Intelligent08 @notoriousrbg I got mine from the Michigan branch. Btw, I live in the greatest country on earth: Texas. I’m just waiting for when we officially get kicked out.
East Coast : Massachusetts
Does anyone know weather where you receive your email from dictate which school you were considered to attend?
Hi future TASSers!
@Intelligent08 asked me a few questions, and I thought I would answer them to the best of my ability. Keep in mind, I was a TASPer, not a TASSer, so there may be some differences/gaps in my knowledge.
- I got my acceptance letter after the email they sent me and it was from Telluride Association in Ann Arbor. Michigan. Does that mean I'm only in the running for the michigan program? I don't think so. The administrative responsibilities of Telluride are spread across all the branches/chapters.
- Does the number of interviewers matter? Is having one interviewer mean I have a better chance of getting in than three or vice versa? I don't believe it does. I had 2 interviewers, many of my friends had 1, a few had 3--I don't think it matters.
- How challenging on a scale of one - ten is the interview? It depends on your comfort with your essays/navigating threads of intellectual thought, but I thought it was maybe around a 7. More challenging than college interviews, but I hadn't had college interviews at the time that I interviewed for TASP, so my hindsight is sort of colored.
- How are roommates chosen for the program and how were the rooms designed like? As far as I know, roommates are decided by the factota/tutors. They read applications and try to make the rooms a good fit. Some people made best friends out of their roommates. The rooms are basically just dorm rooms: dresser/closet space, one desk, two beds. I had a double, some people had a triple. I was staying in Michigan Telluride House, but I don't know what the TASSers' room situation was like/will be in the future.
- How does it work when applying for a summer stipend? Do you have to send in tax information? Unfortunately, I don't know, because I didn't apply for a summer stipend. I advise you to call the office and ask about it though; the people at Telluride are very nice.
- What did you gain from TASS and how was your overall experience? My overall experience was not without its challenges, of course, but was overall extremely positive. I highly recommend attending if you have the chance. I gained a lot of friendships/close relationships with mentors. I also became far more comfortable with difficult textual analysis/essay writing. Ultimately, however, I think I gained a lot of confidence in writing/speaking/asserting my thoughts. I hope that was helpful. Let me know if I can offer anything else.
@Smargent Please excuse my pesterance, as I know this question is generally annoying, but did you find that going to TASP helped with your college admission in any way? Do you think TASS would be viewed upon differently?
I just got an email for my interview right now. I’m really scared about it. Does anyone know how these usually go? I know you’re supposed to look over your essays, but what else do you need to be prepared for? :-SS
I’m not really sure as I have not had my interview yet. But, based on past threads, you just have to read over your essays and booklist to be familiar with them. And be prepared to defend your opinions, think critically, and answer questions beyond your essays. Most importantly, be yourself! I don’t think the interview is meant to be intimidating, so have fun with it as well. @Hamlon
I got the email about the interview and my interview will have four interviewers; I am excited, the process seems interesting.
Wow, four interviewers is a lot. Good luck!
And what type of setting will your interview be conducted in? @Hamlon @univbound101
@Intelligent08 At a university.
I still haven’t gotten an email for my interview yet . Should I be concerned @Hamlon
I don’t think so. I haven’t either. But we still have a month left to get contacted so if you still don’t get anything by like March 20,then you should be cocncerned @dannydalt64
