Tax expert?

I'm an American citizen living in Germany. I work parttime in what is called a "Mini-job" in Germany, where I don't have to pay German taxes as long as I don't earn over 400 Euros a month. I've had this job for almost 1.5 years now, and have altogether earned about 4.500 euros. Up until a few weeks ago it never occured to me that, while I don't have to pay German taxes I might very well have to pay US taxes! My parents pay both German and US taxes. Now I'm really starting to worry that this might effect my financial aid.

Does any know about this? Will I have to pay? My dad says no, but I'm worried he might be too laid back about this stuff. My mom isn't sure. I'm starting to worry.

I’m not a tax expert. If you have earned enough to file, you might have to file an IRS tax return (any citizen working abroad who would be required to file here…is required to file while living abroad) but that doesn’t mean you would have to PAY any taxes.

I’m sure someone here has the thresholds for filing taxes in terms of annual income.

which form would i have to complete?

Here’s an IRS page with some information. It also has links to forms. Good luck!
