Just wondering what sort of background would be needed (Accounting courses as an undergrad, perhaps?). I understand most people need/get an LLM in Taxation; are there any pre-requisites for that program. Best LLM programs? I am only aware of NYU.

Any lawyers out there who would not mind sharing about this field? Daily work? Etc?

When you get to law school, you can typically take classes in federal income taxation, partnership taxation, corporate taxation, etc. These classes are often taken not only by students wishing to go into tax law, but also by students who want to be corporate attorneys. You don't need any particular coursework before then.

First of all, I never said I want to be a tax attorney -- you assumed it. Second, what's wrong with learning about the different practices within the law? Third, why on earth would you make that remark?:).

Tax law can be incredibly interesting and challenging. For example, every complex M&A transaction begins with a consultation with a knowledgable tax attorney, who helps to come up with the structure for the deal.
