my parents are self employed so they don't file a tax return until october. Will this be a problem with the fafsa? I know you're supposed to fill in with 2010 numbers and then update - but my update won't be until after I start college. thanks

It’s only a problem if you are depending on federal money to help you pay for your fall term in college .( Pell Grant, &/or Stafford
Loan).

Your parents need to find a way to file in April if they want you to be considered for aid, unless your school will make an exception.

Just remember that when your family’s taxes ARE completed, your need based aid could change. Some schools will not disburse need based aid until the final FAFSA is done.

I would suggest you contact the schools and ask them as I’m sure you aren’t the first student with self employed parents AND each school could give you a different answer
