Basic question: when a college asks for your tax returns, can you send only the first two pages or do you have to send the entire packet? One of the colleges I applied to stated that only the first two pages of the tax returns were necessary. I was wondering if this is true for every college.

if it asks for only the first two pages, just send only the first two. btw it's no true for every college.

Each Institution has some discretion regarding what pages are required for the tax return. They must request at least the first two pages...but there is no federal requirement for requesting the entire tax return UNLESS there appears to be vital information which the first two pages does not clear up, such as whose self-employment is claimed. Also, some schools evaluate the information on the other tax pages when determining need for school based aid (not all schools use the EFC determination to determine who is in need to school-based funds.)
