There is tax software that handles the FAFSA form, it uses the tax info to fill the form and/or submits to Dept. of Ed.

Its at https://selfserve.thebenefitbank.com/

The software is free but there are restrictions to use the tax portion (i.e. only some states supported and income must be under $56k).

Anyone can use it to fill out a FAFSA form, but the real advantage is if you also use it to do your taxes. If you are just doing FAFSA you might as well just go to FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid

I've heard that other tax programs help by giving a sheet that helps fill out the FAFSA.

In some states H&R Block has a pilot program where they will do your taxes and the FAFSA form. http://gseacademic.harvard.edu/~longbr/HRB_FAFSA_study_-_Bettinger_Long_Oreopoulos_10-07_FAQs.pdf
