Taylor Series

Has anyone else fallen in love with this? It's so elegant.

I'm on this topic in Calculus BC (I made a 5 on AB last year and am teaching myself the remaining topics to take BC this year) and I must say that they look elegant, if only I understood them. I would love to know how/why to do these, but no matter how hard I try, this series and sequences stuff just seems impossible. Anyone know any good online resources to help me understand this mess?

taylors are cool, all of the BC stuff on series is cool. i like related rates and optimization too...thats really fun. two thumbs DOWN to vectors...polars are okay though.

Yes, I was amazed at how cool it was the first time I saw it. But I fall in love with a lot of different math topics, so its not new :)

I'm self-studying for "part C" (to take the BC test), and I haven't had a chance to do them, yet... so I guess I have something to look forward to... kind of. :p

i hate all this BC series stuff. i think it's the thing i hate the most out of all the calc topics. i'm just not a math person.

I dont like all of the series tests for bc, but I <3 Taylor series. Half of my calc class's mouths dropped when we graphed the function and the approximation; it was that incredible. Taylor is a genius.

I understand and really like the Taylor approximations, but I'm just not quite getting the Series part of it. The series tests are just so hard for me to learn.

Haha, when I took BC last year my teacher never taught it because it hadn't been on the AP test in 5 years... guess what shows up on test day?

Taylor Series are nice. Memorizing the formula never gets you anywhere though, you should learn why they work.

I didn't know vectors were on the exam. Vector calculus is horrible; I hope it doesn't constitute much of the test.

So who else is self-studying for the exam?

" vectors were on the exam. Vector calculus is horrible; I hope it doesn't constitute much of the test"
Only the most basic stuff is on, and its entirely possible to get a 5 without knowing it. Don't worry too much about it. And I am also self studying.

Taylor Series are cool, and I am guessing that is how calculator does it?

I really hate polar, just cuz i don't have too much experience with them(precalc class hasn't reached that chapter), and I have trouble graphing em in my head :(
