Is it just me, or did you all find the tests DRAMATICALLY HARDER than those in the blue book?
IN the blue book i score an average of 770 for verbal, 800 for math and scaled 76 for writing mcq, but in the 4 extra practice tests i scored an average of 680 for verbal, 740 for math and 72 scaled for writing.
My scores were quite normal for the pre-test. 740v, 790m and 780w.
I have no idea why. Can someone explain?

They are more difficult. For a more accurate estimate of your scores, take the top end of the score range (the one reported on the score report) and subtract 10 points from it. That should give you a better idea. :)

Godot, do you think the actual test resembles more to the blue book tests or the online ones.

Juenatics, did you take the tests online, or did you print them? Taking them online may be the reson behind lower scores since I personally find it difficult to do SATs online.

I, too, find the online tests much harder. Like 150 points harder.

Do you find the quizzes hard as well?

the quizzes are not hard, i feel. i got just 1 sentence completion error and 1 comprehension error for the entire CR quiz. maths was quite a breeze. writing was okay too.

i printed out the tests. i timed myself exactly 25 mins per section. maths was about the same standard as the blue book's. writing was just a little more difficult. CR was crazy; i was so sure i had no mistake, but when i typed my answers online, i got like, woot, eight to ten wrong each tests. it got me crazy. some were careless, other mistakes...well i would make them again even if i retook the tests.

someone please assure me that their scores will bounce up in the REAL SAT test. someone please tell me that the blue book is the actual standard for the real SAT.

Well, many people have said the Blue Book scores predicted their actual scores relatively well. I haven't heard of anyone refer to the online course scores... I guess less people took them.

I'll tell you guys how they compare in 20 days. I'm taking the SAT this Saturday and getting my scores on the 21st (as long as they don't **** it up).

Yeah... I think the online tests are definitely harder than the ones from the Blue Book. In relation the actual test (I'm comparing it with the March 2005 test), I think Blue Book CR is more accurate than the online version... but then again, I heard CR in Oct was killer, so im not sure. For Math... I have a feeling Math on the actual thing will be harder. And Writing... I think writing on the actual thing will be easier.

For Critical Reading, the actual test is definitely harder than the Blue Book and slightly easier than the online tests. In Math, the Blue Book probably approximates the difficulty of the actual math sections (the online tests are more difficult). The Writing in the online exams appears more difficult; the Blue Book is probably slightly easier than the actual exam for Writing.

hmm... did you take the real october test? Cuz if you look at March 2005 test (the pre-test on CB)... you'll see a CR test that isn't easier than Blue Book, but one that is at least comparable. Hopefully October's CR was just a gross aberration.

I took all of the Online tests before the October SAT.
I got 2380 on the pre-test. (1 wrong CR for 800, 1 wrong math 790, perfect MC but 8 essay for 790)

Then I took the online tests and got:
CR wrong: 5, 3, 2, 4, 1, 0.
Wr MC wrong: 2, 2, 2, 0, 0, 0
Math wrong: 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 2

On the October SAT I got 4 Wrong CR (760), Perfect Math and Writing.

The Online test difficulty fluctuates considerably, basically. The October SAT had CR that ended up being as hard as one of the hardest, most abnormal Online tests. October Math was a bit easier than some of the Online tests, for the most part. Writing fluctuated for the online tests also. But overall, I only found some of the Online tests to be abnormally difficult, while others were normal.

The problem with both the Blue Book tests and the online tests is that they have not been equated (scaled). They are just using an estimated scale and they use the same on for every test. That's also why they don't give an actual score, but a range. They know they are not perfect. It's the scale that accounts for slight fluctuations in difficulty from form to form. The Blue Book Writing is scaled much too leniently. The CR and Math are a little better.

I didn't think Oct CR was all that bad (0 wrong, 0 omit).
