TCNJ vs. 7 Year Rowan

Hey guys! Long story short I have two deposits down (dw, I checked with the schools and they understand). I’m super confused between trying to choose between Rowan/ Cooper Medical School 7 Yr BS/MD and the regular premed track. If anyone could offer any insight, I would really appreciate it

TCNJ Pros- LOVE the school, campus, and the idea of spending 4 years as an undergraduate. I could see myself perfectly in the student body, as everyone’s really nice and seems to love community service and such. Would be around 20000 a year, which is not too bad.

Rowan- did not particularly like undergraduate institution and I’m kind of stressed/ unsure about doing college in three years. It’s also kind of a party school and I can’t really picture myself there, but maybe that’s just a skewed perception from my tour and the FB group. However it is a guaranteed acceptance to a med school that I like, and I do not have to work my tail off as an undergrad and have to worry about every little thing.

Any help, especially from current med students or people that have attended either institutions would be great!

how much would Rowan cost each year?

How would the $20k per year for TCNJ get paid? by who? any loans?

What is req’d at Rowan? any minimum GPA? any minimum MCAT?

Rowan is free, with a 3.6 minimum gpa requirement- not sure about the MCAT requirement, might be 32?? And my family can currently afford 4 years of tuition at TCNJ, I would just have to take out some loans for medical school in the future.

How certain are you that you want to become a doctor and how likely is it you need Rowan foe that ? With a similar GPA and a 32 on the mcat from tcnj you would also have a shot at med school.
The big difference is general academics (harder at tcnj, easier at Rowan, even if success in premed classes is hard everywhere), and, bigger differences, peer group (pro tcnj) and costs (pro Rowan).
Rowan’s honors college group would form a possible peer group, have you reached out to them?

One thing to consider is that Cooper is a new med school. Not sure if they had a graduating class yet. So there’s no info on how successful the kids are coming out of that school. Just curious, but did you not apply to a 7 year program in TCNJ/Rutgers med school?

Thank you all for your responses! I did apply to TCNJ/ NJMS and reached the 2nd round of interviews, but was not selected in the end.

Keep at it @premedkid123 ! Don’t let that get you down.

Hello, I applied to the rowan Cooper BA/MD program and I am done with the interview as well, any idea on the decision timeline for this accelerated BA-MD program from the past information acceptances. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great day.
