I’m down to my final two college choices which is the hardest decision of my life.which college has the better pre law program, campus life, environment, class size, and Greek life?
There is no such think as a “pre law program”.
What do you want to major in?
You had Alabama on your list earlier? Is it off your list? Bama has a highly ranked law school.
I have no opinion on other schools and some limited info on TCU. Stating the obvious, TCU is a mid-sized school in a great town. It is very TX in its vibe, not a lot of diversity and it’s affluent (like most private schools). It’s great for guys since the ratio is so skewed towards females. The Greek system is very active but reasonably under control. I don’t know a guy that hasn’t loved it (son went there). Education is good and professors are highly regarded. Class size is small to moderate with just a few core classes being over 35 students. I would think you would be able to figure it out based on visits to the two as I think they are very different.
42-3. Go with TCU
TCU. Definitely TCU
Social life should be abundant at both schools.
TCU slightly more highly regarded for academics (IMO).
TCU more smaller classes.
One is in Texas, the other in Mississippi. Quite different geographically.
Good luck!
Alabama’s off the list and I want to become a lawyer
Have you been accepted at both already?
Are you still planning on trying to be a walk on QB??
Yes
No. On December 7 I go to TCU for a visit and ole Miss I’m working on a visit as well
A visit and if possible doing an overnight would give you a better idea of “fit” for you. I’ve been to both schools and the environment around the school is quite different. TCU is in a city that is also part of a large metropolitan area and thus, offers a lot off campus. Ft Worth has a lot of cultural museums and Dallas is easily accessible with a car and has a ton of things for young adults to do. I lived in the area as a college student and it’s only gotten better for young adults.
Ole Miss is in a somewhat isolated area and the town revolves around the college. It’s a very cute quintessential southern town. It has a provencial feeling. The college campus is gorgeous and spread out. My daughter took classes over the summer there and the school paid for everything. They have a lot of money and it shows. They have some really wonderful programs for top students. Look into the Lott’s Leadership Institute.
Overall , I think both schools attract similar students. Mostly conservative, southern and interested in Greek life.
My D will not be applying to either although both schools have reached out to her. It’s not a good fit for her.
Visit, talk to students and staff and look into their pre law programs. Then consider the surrounding area- city or rural?
Good luck!
I’ve already set a tour date for TCU and I’ll set a tour date for ole miss this decision’s getting more harder lol but thanks for the advice
