Hey guys, I'm a current junior in high school right now (though the 2010-2011 school year is drawing to an end) & I was just offered the opportunity to teach English to children in Taiwan this summer (2011).

I'm NOT going to be paid anything for this. It's strictly a volunteering type thing. (I already have around 250 hours of volunteer hours- including 120 hours from volunteering in a local hospital)

I'm fluent in both English & Mandarin Chinese, which is the primary language spoken in Taiwan. I also know a little bit of Taiwanese.

I have family friends there that have connections to places that offer "summer English enrichment classes" to kids there, so I was able to get this opportunity.

Is this something I should consider doing (for college admissions sake)? In other words, would it help in college admissions a little bit, if anything at all? I'm hesitant because I also think I should study for my "last chance" ACT's that I'll be taking in September & October instead. I'm not necessarily happy with the score I got from April's test date (I got a 29, which is a little low for the kind of colleges I'm interested in- such as Vanderbilt, which is my top choice as of present)

I'll probably be there for a few weeks (say, 3 weeks?) and it'll probably be at least a few hours a day (3-4 hours?)

What do you guys think?

Thanks!
