@NYCTeacher4: I don’t think this forum is intended for bashing an organization with a great mission to end educational inequity. If you think TFA is not approaching it in a way that is beneficial for students, why not start your own organization and see how well it does? Wendy Kopp has a great vision for ending the achievement gap and I feel sorry that you do not see that.

If TFA doesn’t accept you, I think you know the exact reasons why that is the case.

ANYONE been accepted yet??? Aggghh. A couple more hours.

@NYCTeacher4- I know what you’re saying and the frustration you talk about but also keep in mind that a lot of people who go through TFA end up saying in education (roughly 70% I believe), and advocate for students in other ways whether it’s within the clasrooms, with policy, administration, or other orgs. These individuals would have never ended up working in education if not for TFA…and my belief is that (despite some people going into this job for selfish reasons) the more people we have who are passionate about education, the better.

Wish I had more classes today to distract myself but… alas… just waiting…

Yes, we would all turn down the offers if given. Once again, I ask why would you seek to join a program that is an alternative certification if you care so much about the achievement gap? Why would you not go through a traditional certification route? I wonder your reasoning for going into pedagogy in the first place. Is it because you are about to graduate this year and have no job offers so you see this as a temporary solution to being unemployed? If you guys cared so much about the achievement gap, you would have went through the traditional route like most of us teachers who decided a long time ago to make a difference and not at the last minute like most of you.

Tried logging into the application center but it’s not working. Perhaps too many people checking right now? Or… maybe they’re releasing the results?

Good luck everyone! When you post your results, can you please use this template:

Accepted/Rejected
Final Interview date
Applied for transitional funding? (Yes/No)
If yes, was there a change to Complete (if there was, list the date when the changes occurred)
If accepted, also post the region you were assigned to and grade level/subject you’ll be teaching

If we all follow the same template, I think it’ll be helpful to applicants from 3DL-5DL - I am sure they’ll be equally nervous and it’s god to have all this info, especially regarding whether or not Transitional Funding status changes correlated to Admission offer/rejection!

@dreamingirl: Thanks for posting this template. I was thinking the same thing right now. lol. It definitely will be helpful for future applicants.

I swear to god I’ve gotten more emails today than ever in my life. And every time my phone vibrates, I’m convinced it’s TFA. Gonna try napping to get the hours to pass!

From the blog by Johann von Hoffmann, the Managing Director of Matriculation on Admissions: “With final notification day for our first and second deadline applicants coming up tomorrow (some time after 8 p.m. ET - please be patient, there are lots of details to work out!)…”

…I guess I should stop constantly refreshing my inbox/status page then. Try to keep busy everyone!!
