My backup plans consist of applying for as many teaching jobs as possible come hiring season and continuing my Master’s program during summer classes.

And right now, I should be working on my thesis instead of hopelessly searching for any glimmer of notification. Alas, here am I. Lol

@JuJu117 I listed NY as my number 4 in my list of highly preferred regions; however, I’d be ecstatic to be placed anywhere in my top 5 (D.C., Baltimore, Charlotte, NY, Chicago).

Did anyone else preference Special Education? I have my hopes on teaching History, English, or a Social Science but because I completing a degree in social work I think that I’ll most likely be teaching special education.

@ciao24…I also got an email reminding me about the Nov 2 deadline…wasn’t sure why that was sent to me, figured it was a fluke. Hopefully that’s not a bad sign! Since we can’t re-apply if we’re rejected, I’m figuring it was just a mistake…hopefully…was anyone else sent that same email??

It was probably just a mistake then! That would make sense. We’re all on pins though, so the littlest thing can freak us out and send our minds racing lol. Everything will work out how it’s suppose to, though Only a few more days. Eek!

@RED0088 and @TFAwannabe2013…I’ve heard that if you select Special Education as an option, you’re likely to be placed there. I didn’t select it because I don’t feel comfortable in that position without more training, but kudos to you! My top choices were Early Childhood Education and high school English, music, and ESL. I also preferred Elementary, but I would think I’d end up in ECE since that’s a priority subject. But who knows!

Also…to anyone on the east coast…stay safe in the hurricane!

I agree with all my fellow north easterners, Sandy is keeping my mind off of TFA (but not that much since I’m posting here!) I’m hoping everyone stays safe, and when it’s all over it’ll be decision day!

A few years ago I signed up for general emails from admissions so every once in awhile I get one just talking about future application deadlines. I got the November 2nd email and I think it is just a general email for anyone on that email list.

I also would have liked to teach SPED but I felt that someone teaching that should definitely have more than adequate training. I did not receive the NOV 2 deadline email but as mentioned before, it’s probably an email blast based off of a subscription list. I actually haven’t gotten anything from TFA since I interviewed except for my Spanish testing results. Sooo the waiting game continues.

@teach4them - I am not sure but at our final interview the TFA alum stated that the process starts right away, so I would assume that we do.

As far as email, I have never received any emails other than the generic “you’ve made it to the next step,” email and the “how was the final interview,” email. I have not received an email for the next deadline nor any web seminar reminders.

I did not get an email about my TF being complete, I only noticed when checking my status online. I do not even know if they email for that.

Too bad no one applied for early notification on here.

My updates: My TF is still under review. I interviewed on 10/18, submitted my TF on 10/19. I have not received any email from TFA or invitations to any webinar. Also, I did not receive any email about the November 2nd deadline.

3 more days…. Some creepy things started happening too and no it is not all in my head. I went to the public laundry and there is a boy I met while fundraising for my school in Haiti, he was raising money for his football team. He came to ask me for a donation. His friend asked him, “ IS THAT YOUR TEACHER” – Lol! Creepy hunh! Yesterday, the thought of me leaving my home town and family made me cry. I had to come myself down. I have come to a conclusion, TFA is great but unless they put me down for central Florida. I truly have to say so long to the offer. Question: If you want the offer but not the location, can you negotiate with them?

@IamafriendofGod - I believe yes and no. My interviewer stated there is a little wiggle room but it is needs based. For instance, I put down that I had a mortgage, wife has a full time teaching job, and my parents act as my daycare as reasons why I can only work in a specific location. While they said they would give preference for people’s needs, it is not guaranteed. It is also based on how many people they can take to specific regions as well. At least that is how it was explained to me.
