Did anyone do it? Any idea if this actually increases our chances? i'm hopeful...my numbers aren't great for TFA, but I'm really passionate about their cause.!

if anyone here applied their junior year LAST YEAR, when they piloted this program, i'd love to hear your thoughts!!
fingers crossed!!

I feel like mine went rather well too… well at least I’m hoping so. I’m just hoping that the competition isn’t too tough with this special deadline. I felt like all of fellow interviewees were just as qualified for the position, so at this point I’m just hoping for the best. It definitely feels like Friday is painstakingly far away though!

I feel like everyone at my group interview was very well qualified as well. They say that TFA isn’t competitive, but ‘selective’ so there doesn’t have to be an X cutoff on the number of people who made it at each group.

If worst comes to worst, we can reapply in August. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.

What region, and subject do you all hope to teach in?

hey all! Also joining in the wait for this Friday…

I feel like in my group there was one girl that was clearly going to be accepted and then among the rest of us we were all equally qualified. I think everything went well… My lesson was good, I was able to make some good contributions in the group activity etc. It was a little hard to gauge the personal interview because my interviewer never made any eye contact or anything because she was typing down everything. So I couldn’t really tell how good she thought my answers were and stuff. Anyone else feel that way?

My highly preferred areas were in Texas and Florida… I would love to be going to San Antonio or Dallas as my top two. My highly preferred teaching areas were HS/MS math, Spanish and Bilingual education. My recruiter told me if I am accepted she can almost guarantee I will teach math since there is such a need for math teachers and that’s my major. What about everyone else?

It was pretty hard to gauge my lesson and group activity, so I feel like those were sort of so-so. However, I felt like my one on one interview was really strong and my interviewer really understood why I want to be a part of the movement. So hopefully that’s positive! I felt like my interviewer really connected with me, and did a really good job of maintaining eye contact even while taking notes. But I was also the first of my group to interview, so that could definitely have something to do with it.

I highly preferred quite a few regions, but my top were Nashville, the Carolinas, or Alabama. I also put Dallas on there too, marleigh27, because I would love to teach Spanish there and my roommate is Dallas born and bred and loves it! So hopefully you’ll be placed there- it’s also a high priority region, which is good! I would love to teach Special Education or Early Childhood, but would also be excited about teaching Spanish or Social Studies. But we won’t hear back regarding our subject placements until around November. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but from my understanding on Friday we will be notified of an acceptance to the corps as well as a regional placement. Regardless, Friday can’t come soon enough!

I am so happy I found this thread! I am on pins and needles waiting to hear back from TFA! What size was everyones final interview group? Mine only consisted of myself and two others. I think this week will feel like the longest week ever.

I preferences Massachusetts, Dallas and the Bay Area (which is where I am from). It seems like quite a few of us preferences Dallas! I liked that the pay was on the higher side while the cost of living was on the lower.

What is everyone doing to help ease their anxiety/excitement??!

Yeah I think on Friday we find out where we would go but not what we would teach. Also someone in my interview group told me we would get feedback on why we were rejected since the pool of candidates is much smaller. Does anyone know if that’s true?

I’ve been trying to do anything to distract me. Working out, watching tv, reading… It’s much harder to pass the time since schools out so I have nothing to do in that department. I don’t think this thread will help me keep my mind off of things until Friday!!

My interview group was about 12-- so full. And that city had 3 different interview sessions over the 3 days. All of you who highly preferenced Dallas will probably be placed there since it is high priority so good for you Anyone looking to go to Seattle? I have a special circumstance, but I’m really nervous because that corp is so small and is a bit different than other ones.

I’m still at school, so I’m able to stay pretty busy with finals.

My group was about 13-14 individuals. There was another group on the same day of about the same number, and two other final interviews with smaller numbers the next day.

I think I selected half of the regions as areas I’d be interested to. In 3 days time from now, we’ll all know our status.

@draco, 3 days… It seems almost unbelievable!

According to my interviewer the day before my interview had about 9 people, I was surprised that there were so few. I am still in school, I jus had midterms last week so there is definitely that to focus on but in the back of my mind I am constantly thinking about friday!

I wonder if the final acceptance notice will go out at 5pm PST or if they will send them out earlier. For every other stage of the process I received the notification about 4 hours earlier then the time they stated.

^ At least mid terms will keep you busy until then :P. Yeah, hopefully the decisions will be out early. It’s so scary thinking how soon until they’ll be out.

I’ve normally been finding out from the email notifications they send, and depending on when they actually send them out.

Keeps fingers crossed for everyone
