Teach For America-2017 Corps

For some reason my timeline is back

Hi everyone! Does anyone know how we will receive decisions? Will we get an email or do we check the portals? Thanks

I’m wondering this too. They did send emails when we were invited to the interviews. So it could possibly be the same process.

I just talked to my friend who was admitted for the 2017 corps a few months ago and he said that you get an email telling you to log into your applicant portal where it has your decision there

They’ll send emails, but the portals normally update first. Unfortunately, this means hitting the refresh button all day. Also, the email doesn’t say the decision. It only says there’s been a change to your account, so you have to login anyway to find out.

Is there a time that all of the decisions go out, or is that just throughout the day?

I believe 8pm ET

They said that before but we found out by 10 am PST in the summer.

Does anyone else have their timelines back?

My timeline disappeared Monday morning and still hasn’t returned.

My undergrad uses an online e-delivery for transcript requests and it also displays the viewing history. It shows that my transcript was viewed on both my interview day and also once in the past couple days. Has anyone else experienced this or know if your transcript carries weight for selection? I’m a science major for what it’s worth.

At least you know that they’re evaluating your information. @jrd1993

I agree, I just didn’t want to read too much into it. I guess we’ll all know in the next 50 hours or so that we’ve all been accepted.

One more day!

Oh btw, I sent an email to admissions ops and got an automatic reply. In the email it said

"We are currently experiencing a high volume of emails, but we’ll respond back to you as soon as possible, prioritizing more time-sensitive questions about 1/2DL final interviews and the upcoming round of First Review starting later this week.

Application Reviewers, quick note - we’ll be working on First Review file assignment throughout Thursday, so be on the lookout Friday for a notification email flagging that assignments are ready to go."

So, definitely confirmed that it’s humans reviewing our files. Lol

Yo–I know this is kinda weird but, I was poking around on the TFA website code last night and I found a section of the code that said my app status is still “OPEN”, and that I am in the “FINALEVAL” stage. I’m not sure if this is accurate, as it stumps me that an organization that is so interested in keeping the application process so secretive would just leave this code out for anyone to find. However, it might answer the weird timeline questions that we’ve been having, like it’s possible that the timeline means nothing at all.

How were you able to check that info? If you send steps others could check for comparison of status, or at least PM me.

Sure, so here are rough guidelines:

  1. Log into your TFA account, and go to your timeline page.
  2. Right click on your timeline, or hit control and click at the same time if you have a Mac. Click “Inspect Element”
  3. You’ll see a bunch of code come up, Look for this line of code “” Click on the triangle to the left of it to expand it.
  4. When mine is expanded, it says this “” Which I assume means that they’re still reviewing my application.

Let me know if you guys need clarification, and also if yours says something different than mine!

I never thought to check the code. Mine says the same thing

@scacec1217 My process was a little different because I don’t have a visible timeline, but it still worked and mine said the same thing - "input type=“hidden” name=“appStatus” value=“OPEN”

Also, for some reason I have an exit code that says “REJECTED”. Do you guys have the same thing? I’m not sure if that means that I’ve been rejected, or the default value is 0, which corresponds to “REJECTED”. Does your guys’ exit code say this?

To check your exit code:

  1. Log into the TFA website. Click on your name on the top right corner and then click “View My Profile”
  2. Right click anywhere on the page, and you’ll see a bunch of code pop up
  3. Hit “Ctrl F” and search “ExitCode”
4.You should see a long string of words. Mine says “ApplicationDispositionExitCode:“REJECTED””

Then above that it also says “ApplicantDisopositionStep:FINALEVAL” so tbh have no clue what’s going on.
