Also, for all of those accepted, did you receive placement in your top regions? I find out in one week and I’m getting more and more nervous as the date approaches. It does not seem that many people who are expected to find out on December 4th know about this board so I’m hoping to connect with core members or those already accepted to learn more about how the process works and your experiences
@alexsant820 Hey! You’re right, not many people from your deadline know about this discussion board. The previous years posted frequently, I thought the trend would continue.
But, to answer your question, I was accepted to my number one region. I did have special circumstances that required I remain in NYC. I also was qualified to teach a variety of subjects in my region, which probably helped my case. Also, being that you’ve applied in the second deadline, your chances should be better for getting into the region you want. My recruiter is the one who encouraged me to apply in the first and second deadline so that I would be able to be placed in the region I wanted. But just know that there are a numerous factors that determine placement. Depends on whether the region you want is popular (NYC, LA, etc.), whether you’re qualified to teach enough subjects, and your GPA.
Don’t be too nervous! Good luck!
@alexsant820 I am currently waiting on my decision for Dec 4th as well! I am getting nervous and have spent hours looking for forums like this one. Do you know if there is any truth to the “View page source” trick to seeing if you are accepted or not? I right clicked on the application page and it says that mine has not been updated since the day of my interview on November 11.
I am also waiting on tomorrow’s decision. Good luck everyone!
@kseg27 the view source page “trick” isn’t a real thing. At least not anymore. TFA is continuously updating all those mechanisms to prevent applicants from gaining any information on decisions.
@drehall Thank you! I’ve been going over every single detail in my head and sometimes I feel confident and other times not so much, but tomorrow is the day so I’m just hoping for the best.
I’ve read through a lot of these threads over the past few corps and it seems that everyone has had a great recruiter who has given them additional insight and guidance. I liked my recruiter, but I feel like she didn’t provide me with any meaningful information to support me in the process, she was very general and most of the information she gave me was information that could be accessed on the TFA website. I hope that this does not hinder things for me.
I chose Nashville/ Chattanooga as my top region! Really keeping my fingers crossed.
@kseg27 After a lot of research and monitoring the source code myself, I do not believe that any hidden information can be accessed from it. (Unfortunately lol) I suppose we just have to wait until tomorrow. This has honestly been the most high stress three weeks ever and I’m just trying to stay positive. Where are you from and what are your top regions?
@TFA2K20 Where are you from and what are your top regions?
Hey @alexsant820, I am from New York and picked Los Angeles as my one and only preferred region. Hopefully picking that way will increase the possibilities of being placed in that region. I did fill out the special circumstances portion as well so we’ll see. Fingers crossed. I also hoping that I don’t get SPED as my only option. There seems to be more possibilities of getting re-assigned to a region. I haven’t noticed re-assignment of subjects on here. Curious!
@TFA2K20 Hmmm I’m interested in the re-assignment possibilities as well. If you don’t mind me asking, where in NY are you from? I am also in NY right now, but looking to go south. I’m in the lower Hudson Valley currently.
Hudson Valley sweeet!! I live in Brooklyn and work in the city. So @alexsant820 what inspired you to go South?
@TFA2K20 First reason is, I honestly cannot afford NY. It is WAY too expensive. Second, I am over the cold and snow. Going south where cost of living is more reasonable and the weather is warmer sounds great to me. I also grew up in this area and I’m looking for some new experiences! LA is great weather too! Not sure if you’ve checked out TFA on youtube but I have watched a ton of Yelbasse’s videos. She did her two years in LA and she really breaks down everything TFA is about and her experience. Check it out if you’re interested.
I do agree that NY is too expensive and the South will work well in terms of the weather and it’s super affordable to have a life there. I have viewed a couple of Yelbasse’s videos. Some were insightful, others left me with very mixed feelings. I do believe that everyone’s experience is unique and dependent on numerous factors, so I appreciate different perspectives and excited to have my own experiences (good or bad).
Hi! I also applied in the December round and I’m so stressed out about tomorrow’s results! Good luck everyone!
Good luck @DeeDee1102 !!
Has anyone received any emails from their recruiters? My recruiter has been pretty active before the interview, curious why they’re so quiet now. Hopefully, I’m not overthinking it. Also waiting on December 4th, good luck everyone!
Hi @VallyYehaw, I think recruiters at this point are just waiting for decisions to be out to give further guidance. They practically work to get you to this point so I’m sure tomorrow we will be hearing from them or your specific regional recruiter. Good luck to you.
Phew! For a second, I thought my recruiter has forsaken me lol! To add to the discussion, I’m from the South but goes to school in upstate New York, looking to go back down to the south! Like many of you guys, the cost of living is just significantly better and I’m also sick of the snow, especially this week!
What time do y’all think we will find out tomorrow? I have a feeling it will be the longest. Day. Ever.
According to the soure code, the information will be released exactly at 5pm EST. From previous forums, an email could be sent earlier than the portal notification.
