What's an appropriate amount of money to give? I've already written my teachers nice, personalized, and, in my biased opinion, hilarious cards, but they're living on teachers' salaries, the butt of many a joke.

I would refrain from giving money, unless a lot of people are doing it (in which case, you’d be best off asking them).
If you’re giving a gift card (which I still consider a bad idea), I would give between 10 and 20 dollars. Either way, I really think you should refrain from monetary gifts and go out and buy a proper gift (within your price range, of course).

Out of curiosity, what’s the reasoning behind that?

Wondering what a proper gift is too! I was a teacher at one point and I can tell you that the very best gifts I ever got were hand written notes from students. I never really wanted anything more than that. I have kept every note I was given and I still enjoy reading them and remembering the student and wondering how he/she is doing now if we haven’t kept in touch. The next best were gift cards which are practical and useful. A gift is a gift, but I often felt bad that some of my students would spend money on stuff that I had no need or want for. Like I said, a handwritten note trumps them all and it is free!

What do you mean? Are you planning to buy gift cards?

I think if you wanted to go the gift card route, a $5-$10 gift card to Starbucks or another coffee place would likely always be appreciated

@CallMeJonah Money is typically considered taboo when it comes to gifts, especially when it comes to people older than you. Idk how to explain that, but cash typically looks bad (although it would be nice if it didn’t!). I really think, as @YouAreAllAwesome said, a handwritten note is a good idea!

Why are you buying them anything? Give something personal, a $5 gift card won’t do them or you any good.

food is always a good idea. im pretty sure about 200% of all people like food

If you eat too much food you’ll become 200% of a person.

Also, 200% of people who eat food ultimately die.

Wait guys when is Teacher Appreciation Week this year?
I give around $20 in target giftcards per teacher.
Here’s a cute gift idea! My friend gave succulents in mason jars for each teacher. THEY WERE SO ADORABLE.
