So in psychical education class (gym) I got a 100 for the first semester. For second semester I got a 90!!! I always participate and am prepared for class. I spoke to my teacher and said I deserve a 70 and that he’s not going to change my grade. He gave 90’s too to basically most people but those people always sit around. I’m not even mad as much about the grade bc gym barely counts but the fact that he determined my grade that way upsets me. There are these girls who always sit and got 90’s meanwhile I play and sweat. He’s so unfair and I literally want to cry bc I had a cohesion and still played and out effort in. I know I don’t deserve this grade and I’ve never felt this way about a grade. This girl who is never in class got a 90…like she’s never there and when she is she sits around. And this girl always on her phone got a 95. It’s so unfair I’m going to talk to my guidance consuler. I don’t know what I should do? Do I go to my guidance counselor? My sister also got a 90 and she’s never prepared for class so I understand that but giving me that same grade when I’m always prepared and play???. I’ve never gotten below a 97 in a gym class!!!
Is a 90 still an A at your school?
@bodangles the courses like gym differ. This would be like a C.
How is losing ten points like a C?
@bodangles I don’t know that’s just my schools scale for classes like gym
I think you meant to write physical education above, lol.
It’s very frustrating to get a grade you don’t deserve.
Since your teacher said you deserve a seventy, have you asked him why? Even if he won’t change your grade, you don’t want a repeat next term. However, ask extremely respectfully. Kiss up! Don’t fight, as strong as the urge is. That will only get you in a worse situation.
You might want to rethink going to the GC about a 90 in PE. He/she will be writing your recommendation for college, and honestly complaining about a 90 in a non academic class comes off as extremely whiny. Part of maturing is learning to pick and choose your battles. JMO.
@CottonTales actually, I went to her and she was impressed that I had the courage to go talk to him and said herself that she likes putting things like that in recs.
^glad it worked out
Yeah I wouldn’t battle with a grade in a non-academic class. Just my 2 cents though
Don’t worry about what your gym teacher thinks about you. If he/she had done something useful with their life, they wouldn’t be teaching physical education at a public high school to make a living. The only time I have some respect for a PE teacher is if it’s a sports coach who fills that job in order to be able to coach lol.
Edit: Can I ask what school you go to? PM me if you wish so that I can see for myself the grading scale in your syllabus which states a 90 is a C. What’s a B- a 95?
@Anish14 Charming. Being a complete jerk to someone spending their life contributing to your education, and asking for personal information to boot.
