My school sends the teacher, counselor, and transcript papers in paper. I am just kind of confused what to give to the teachers. They said a stamped envelope with the address, but the guidance counselor sends everything. Am I supposed to give my GC a big manila envelope with stamps? I know where to address it to the school I am applying, but my printer does not print envelopes so I would have to hand write it. And is my name supposed to be on the outside of the envelope somewhere? Is the envelope supposed to be my school's letterhead? And is it okay for them to send it through mail when I am doing my common app online?

You’re worrying too much.

The envelope can be a regular envelope, no fancy letterheads or typed addresses. Your name does not have to be on the outside of the envelope; it will be indicated on the rec forms inside. And they are absolutely allowed to mail things even if your app is online, since they’ll just scan all paper forms into your online file.

As for the GC, school policies differ. Mine pays for stamps and envelopes. Yours may not.

I would go ahead and give your teachers addressed envelopes. Maybe they’ll end up inside the manilla envelope from guidance, but it’s best to be careful.
