I have tried many time to get my junior english teacher to send my eval to west point. So almost 2 weeks past the deadline, I ask my senior english teacher to write a rec, b/c my junior one is being painfully slow. He does not teach at my school anymore, so the only way i can contact him is through email; he almost never responds to my email, as many other students experience the same thing. So my senior english teacher, just trying to understand what's going on decides to send my junior teacher an email regarding about the situation. That's probably what set my junior teacher off, and he wrote me this angry letter:
"Okay, you have finally pushed me over the edge. Evidently the English
language is a mystery to you because I have already told you that I
would mail the letter before the school's deadlinenot yours! Your
harassment and self-centeredness belies a attitude one would expect from a
student wishing to be a part of the armed forces.

Since you want the letter so badly I will advise West Point of the same
information I have just written you"

Can anyone advise me on what to do? Apparently, no one would have perdicted his level of anger. I've already sent a letter to west pt admin and west pt contact, warning them the situation. I've also asked them to disgard my junior teacher's recommendation if he even bothers to send it out. If he decides to send his rage to Naval Academy, since he already sent my eval in, should I warn them about the situation? should I tell them to disgard my english evaluation, and risk delay in my admin status, as u all know it's a rolling admission. My impression is, he was pretty positive about me before the letter. The last time he went to visit my school to collect rec, he seems happy to see me. Also, how bad do u think his letter would affect my west pt admission or even possibly my naval one?

Sounds like your teacher is a real unstable individual. You will come across people like this throughout your life. It sounds like you are handling the situation well. I would have your principle or senior English teacher send a letter to the admissions office as well. Never hurts to have others confirming your situation. As long as your other teachers sent good evals I wouldn't worry, especially if the appointment committee is cognizant of the situation. Hang tough!

thanks, Everything for my file has been going smoothly excepty him, and his anger right now is my biggest obstacle. I have never dreamed he would be so unstable. Can anyone else give me other useful advises to face this problem?

Well, I might even call him and explain that the process is so intense that candidates really have to move everything along to make sure everything is complete -- it's very competitive. And then apologize. I know you probably don't want to, but it might be worth it. You have nothing to lose. Often people who are angry on paper/email, will be much less so in person. You may be able to reach him before he acts. Good luck

He called my emails "harassment", when I only sent him 8-9 emails since the school year. Plus out of 8-9 emails in like a 4 month period, he only replied once, actually twice, the angry letter. I did not send him anything during the summer. I was really amazed by what a former teacher can do.

My son has had similiar difficulties with some of his teacher recommendations/evals. It's amazing how some of these teachers will crucify a student for being late with an assignment but when the tables are turned it's like pulling teeth to get them to cough up an evaluation. You might want to get your parents involved. When time was running short, I sent e-mails and left voice-mail messages on my son's behalf. If that didn't shake something loose, I elevated it to the school administrators. I can aassure you that your parents will get a different response from your teacher.

My son had problems with one evaluation for MIT. It had to be post marked by 1 Nov; 31 Oct. rolled around and the teacher still hadn't completed the eval. I raised cain with the school administrators which resulted in the teacher providing the letter the next day.

I would of used it as an advantage. You could of easily explained to the boared that you are very ambitious and you like things to get structured and on time. And you go to great lenghths for things the be uniform, you do not become hostile but just remind the person.
