Question.

My English Teacher sent in her recommendation/evaluation this summer. Yet my candidate file says it is still missing. What should I do?

^^^^
Teacher evaluations are submitted online, not sent in. After an evaluation is submitted, you will receive an e-mail confirming that that part of your application is complete and your online status will also be changed to reflect the date that the evaluation was submitted.

I think what you should do is follow up with the teacher, in person. If you have already done that, and that's the reason for your info about it being "sent in" during the summer, you may have a bigger problem. If you feel confident that she is giving you a top evaluation and you are comfortable with bringing it up to her again, then just explain to her that your on-line status says it was never 'received' and would she do it again. I'd have the info in hand about how to access the system and give it to her directly, and then tell her you'll monitor the 'on-line status' as GA mentions above, and that you'll get right back to her promptly when the status changes! That way you can follow-up and continue to talk with her without getting into an implication that somehow she might be at fault. And, don't forget to thank her for doing it the first time, even though it "got lost somehow...." ;)

I know. She did "submit" it. But since the contact information/where she needs to submit it to is sent ot her through and email I can't submit her name and email again for her to retrieve that information. I am going to call admissions and ask because I don't know what to do. :)

Yes, call admissions. They are very helpful. Just remember to call only when you need to. This is one of those times.

^^^^^ This kind of thing happens quite frequently in my experience. Advice to candidates: make sure you alert your teachers to the fact that they'll be getting an email from the Naval Academy.

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked to help solve this same issue - the teachers aren't expecting the mail and/or it gets inadvertently deleted.

In our case, it never got "received." Our school's spammeister prevented even this good stuff. After weeks of trying, we finally got info sent to home emails. EVEN the counselor stuff. I know, it's dark ages stuff, but just persist in getting this done. It's not brain surgery, just techno-gliches and common sense. One more reason to start the process early.

zrmvhs08 the same thing happened to my daughter. I finally resorted to showing up early to our high school Back to School night which was in late September of her senior year. The dear Math teacher assured me that she had sent it twice - once at the first and then again at my daughter's request. But she was kind enough to take me to her computer right there at her desk and we looked. I came with the email that they should be mailed to from the beginning...and we were both surprised to learn that she had a slight mis-addressed email she sent it to. Interestingly enough - she never got notification of a returned email...but this may be due to the fact that she had a strong school firewall. Anyway, fortunately she still had the word file on her computer and was able to resend it right then and there.

My daughter's LOA came in 2 weeks - so we suspect this made a huge difference to get it in as quickly as we could.

So you might check out this possibility.

Good luck and God bless!

It's not called the Candidate GUIDANCE Office for nothing. Call Admissions and ask them; they will probably ask you to contact the teacher again and ask her to re-sub.

A little rude there JamTex...
