I’ve invited my teacher to fill out my Math Recommendation on the SAO months ago. I remind him through emails and in person every so often. He said he would fill it out today, but he hasn’t. I’m scared he won’t fill it out tomorrow either and some of the deadlines are tomorrow. What should I do?
I’m having a similar issue with my guidance counselor rec. He says he is flooded with college recs to do as well, and is therefore having trouble getting to mine. I emailed all of the schools I’m applying to and explained that it may be a few days late, and they were all very accepting and said it wouldn’t be an issue. My only advice is to hope that he sends it in tomorrow, but just in case email the schools as a heads up. If you send the schools a message, try not to blame the problem on your teacher (even if it’s entirely his fault), because that may come across and ungrateful/deflecting responsibility. Instead try to give a general reason as your explanation ie. ‘it’s a very busy time of year and he has assured me he will complete it soon. I am very sorry for any inconvenience’, or something along that line. Again, the schools understand that some things are out of our control and are understanding of that, so I wouldn’t be too worried.
thanks!
Most schools have a buffer that allows time for letters of rec to be submitted.
Doesn’t sound like your problem because you reminded your math teacher a month ago (I procrastinated and did it yesterday but all my teachers were nice and filled it out today).
What I did is to tell them that a teacher rec is required in order to apply, and the deadline is tomorrow. Hope this helped
Most schools are saying that you’re fine as long as the majority of the application is submitted by Jan. 15
Other posters here are right-- the schools give some leeway for late recommendation letters, although I would not tell the teacher this… (DD had a similar situation, but the teacher submitted a few days ago).
I would not worry until the school reaches out to you asking for said recommendation.
We are still waiting for o e person to fill out a recommendation too. Really uncool.
