I know Columbia wants "core" courses (i.e math, sciences, lit, social studies)

I have had an Econ/Business/FedTeamCoach teacher for all 4 years of my high school career and I would love to have him write my recc for me. But the problem is I'm not sure if Columbia would count this. Is it okay for him to write me a reccomendation as my year-long economics teacher?

Here's the kicker though... the economics course I took though year long, was an elective. But it gets confusing because my school is split up into 7 "concentrations". For the business concentration kids its a Core course. For me, its an elective even though its the EXACT same class.

So in light of all this, what do you guys think, is it okay to submit his reccomendation with the Econ class as the main Social Science along with the other 6 electives he's taught me in over a period of 3 (going on 4) years?

Anyone submit an Econ recc before?
