ok.. so I'm applying for Early Decisions, for all my colleges.
the problem is, I CANNOT FIND TEACHERS TO WRITE ME A RECOMMENDATION LETTER.
what do I do?! they said that it will take them at least 4 weeks, and I don't have that much time.
Is it okay if I submit recommendation letters after the early admission deadline?
i have ONE WEEK left, and I'm literally freaking out.
PLEASE HELP!

btw, i'm applying for NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, Penn State, App State, Elon.. if that changes anything.

You can’t apply ED to more than one college.

Tough lesson to learn. But at least you did not miss the cutoff for RD. Better get working on it.

Wait, I thought it was alright if rec letters arrived after the application deadline? And TC, what college are you applying to that has a ED deadline of Oct 15?

First of all, calm down. All those caps makes it seem like you’re yelling at us.

Like OperaDad mentioned, you can only apply ED to ONE college. This is BINDING. However, if these schools are actually EA, you could apply to all of them early. I suggest you go to the websites of these schools to make sure.

It’s kinda your fault that you didn’t ask your teachers sooner, but most schools do accept teacher recs AFTER the deadline (as long as you submit everything else). I think this is because schools realize that you don’t really have that much control over how expeditious your teacher is about rec letters. Call the admission office of the schools you’re applying to and ask if they accept late letters.

Best wishes! kcd

The only thing that can arrive after the deadline are: Test Scores, and Mid-year Grades.

It is up to the college to give you special dispensation if anything else is missing.

I don’t think this is correct, OperaDad. Where are you getting this information from? Maybe there are a few schools out there that will reject an otherwise on-time and complete application just because a teacher rec didn’t show upon time - but if so, I’d like to know which ones those are. The only exceptions I know of are those that have deadlines for scholarships and they are generally very explicit about needing the recs (and everything else) by a particular date.

here is UNC policy
What must be submitted by the October 15 deadline for Early Action?
Only your application, your payment method, and your UNC-CH Supplement (if you’re applying via the Common App) must be received by the deadline. All other materials, such as your letter of recommendation, test scores, transcript, and School Form, may arrive after the deadline.

Why can’t you find teachers to write letters? I get them almost everyday even from students who I had last year and have moved on to other high schools. Make up a list of all your EC’s and your gpa and then give that to a teacher. Letters should be easy to get. Just some advice, if you didn’t try hard or you did not like the class then don’t ask those teachers. I have actually had students who told me they hated science and failed my class ask me for letters…uhhh, no!
