Teacher Recommendation Letters

My daughter is a junior, and we’ve started looking into private scholarships for her to apply for when she is a senior. I’ve noticed that most (if not all) ask for one or more letters of recommendation. Assuming she applies for multiple scholarships and other opportunities, what is the best way to handle requesting these from teachers without having to ask them over and over again? Would she just give them a copy of her resume and they write a generic letter that she can use for multiple purpose?

Thanks!

You might see if your school’s counseling office has a process for this.

At my daughter’s school, the counseling office has a form available online to fill out when requesting letters of recommendation. It asks for resume and other info and whether you want the letter for scholarships or college applications.

Students can have the form completed and ready to go before they ask their teacher for the recommendation. There is also a process for sending an email through the counseling office each time the letter is needed going forward.

Check to see how your school counselors handle this.

That is a great idea and makes a lot of sense. Now that you mention it, I think I remember seeing something like that on a senior newsletter.

Thank you!
