Teacher Recommendation Presents

What did you guys all get your teachers to thank them for writing you recs? Since we all know that Yalies are the most creative and thoughtful and fun people around (or at least the Yalie-wanna-bes on this board), I figured I'd ask you... Any suggestions? Thanks!

I need to know too. It's almost Christmas. Should that affect what you get them?

I'm getting them a basket of random stuff....chocolates, candies, and other stuff that my mom picked out to make a nice combination. I'm giving 'em all that right before I get out for vacation, the 15th. It goes along with the holiday season so it works, I hope I wasn't supposed to do it before; whatever.

What is considered too much?

Yeah, I'm wondering if I should do it now and get them a sort of gift basket, or right after the holidays and get them something cool from Quebec, while we're traveling. The thing is, I don't want to wait too long, because I already game them ALL my recs and they turned them all in... just in case (or in all probability) I don't get into Yale. I've already given them chocolate and such, but I don't want to wait too long for a bigger present...

I just wrote thank-you notes for my teachers, and I got a pie for my counselor (it was around Thanksgiving).

I need to know what is appropriate...don't want to seem like I'm bribing them since most of them still teach me now.

I gave them thank you cards and homemade cookies. I also plan to bring them something small back from my vacation in China. I would suggest sending a card now and then a small present after the deadlines have passed. It's not bribing since the letters will be done by then.

My old french teacher helped me out a lot with my application, so i went to <a href="http://www.lamaisonduchocolat.com%5B/url%5D">www.lamaisonduchocolat.com</a> and sent her a box of chocolates...but its very expensive. But her help was priceless. :) hope this helps

Wait till after the 15th, then order Yale stuff from ivysport.com

Our child wrote thank you notes and included two movie tickets and gave them to the teachers and also the folks in the guidance office that processed all the paperwork. He gave them out on the last day before Christmas so they could enjoy a movie nite over vacation with spouse or date, in return for all their nites spent writing letters.

I was thinking of doing it AFTER I get my decision.

i am going to bake lots and lots of desserts - i do it every year for my guy friends cause they are so hard to shop for - and this year i am going to give my teachers who wrote recs a plate full of cookies and put a thank-you note with them

I got my bio teacher who wrote me recs an anatomically correct chocolate heart (from <a href="http://www.pushindaisies.com/candypress/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=224%5B/url%5D">http://www.pushindaisies.com/candypress/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=224</a> ). She really liked it.

Jesus christ, I just wrote notes... maybe I should be a little more of an overachiever!

I just wrote notes as well like10thousand. If you want to get them a present because you are kind, by all means do so. However, don't get them one because you're sucking up or anything.

I'm getting my spanish teacher pasta..it's a long story.

whenever someone makes a mistake, she says "50 lashes with a wet noodle", so I"m getting her spaghetti and a bottle of water.

That was actually a short story :)

well, it's entirely another thing to experience it...
