Teacher Recommendations and School Choices

EDIT: Oh my goodness. Wrong forum. Moderators, if you see this, please move this to the Common App forum; my apologies.

At least a week ago (maybe two? can't remember), I asked both teachers in person if they'd mind writing my applications, and both consented. From their reactions and from how they've handled the recommendations of some of my classmates, neither of them seem like she's the kind to take a while to write them.

The thing is, there's one college where I'm unsure whether I'm applying there or not (and another which application will be impacted by whether or not I'll apply to the first). I'll probably make up my mind after I tour the former next weekend.

Is it odd to ask teachers to write you a recommendation, then wait a long while before you formally invite them on the Common App? Or should I just invite them now and then make changes later...or just make up my mind on where to apply now? If it matters, I'm applying RD and deadlines are early January.

Is it possible/convenient/polite to make changes to colleges after teachers have been invited to submit rec letters? I doubt they'll be personalized to each college, but I don't want to end up confusing them.

Your teachers, and the recommendations, won’t be affected by which schools you apply to. Once you invite a teacher they upload the recommendation and then it is completely in your hands. You can attach it and de-attach it to colleges as you so desire.

I know this is a really late response, but thank you–it cleared up a lot. Getting ready to submit. deep breath
