Teacher Recommendations (Independent Study)

I have a question regarding the CommonApp's and the individual colleges' recommendation forms. I'm an independent study student (not sure whether the term 'homeschooled' applies, as the courses are official, as through certified, university vendors) and am curious about how one would go about getting two teacher recommendations if they've never actually met ANY of their teachers? I can easily get recommendations from my counselor, and teachers and doctors with whom I volunteer, yet some of the colleges I am looking at specify that they need the recommendations from specific teachers (such as from English or Math departments).

Has this been asked before? Is it something I need to ask the individual colleges about?

Thank you! And if I've forgotten to include some crucial information, just let me know.

Well, it never really hurts to ask the college. I go to a distance learning school. I don’t know my teachers. But because some schools require a teacher recommendation from a junior or senior teacher, I am going to have to waste a hugely important part of my application on a form letter from a person I’ve never even spoken to. On the other hand, my supplementary recommendation will be much better and much more personal. At least your counselor knows you - I don’t think I even have a counselor.
