Older sister still insists on asking more questions hehehe ^-^

Does the teacher that teachers a specific subject really matter when giving recommendations?

i.e: I'm Asian and I go to my chinese teacher for recommendations.. and assume that the Adcom would see both of our ethnicity as a biased feeling towards one another? :O

Uhm it's kind of hard to explain^

And rather than that getting a recommendation from a foreign-language teacher, would it be best to get a recommendation from a teacher in an AP class or just any math, science, literature class in general?

Thanks!

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you… I’m Asian and asking my Chinese teacher for a rec as well. I think its best to ask for teacher recs from the teachers that like you the most - regardless of subject or ethnicity. Praise will usually overshadow any negatives.

Race doesn’t matter. For all they know, your school only has Asian teachers. You won’t get penalized for that.

It depends on the school. Some schools, (I think like CMU) will ask for a rec from a humanities teacher and a rec from a science/math teacher. Or something like that.
Most don’t care - they tell you to get a rec from the teacher that really really likes you.

Okay thank you everybody for the input :)
