Do you guys think that colleges have preference on teachers for teacher recommendation?
I want to ask my Chinese teacher to write me recs, but I'm chinese, does it look bad? do i have to choose the teacher from the subjects which i am gona major?
so confused...
anyone has any ideas?
thanks

i think if you can get a recommendation from your freshman gym teacher, then it will be such a nice hook. The other subjects are seriously overrated.

Do you have anybody else?

most schools want ACADEMIC teacher, so I can't tell if lobster's post is a joke or serious.
preferably pick someone else, but if you know your chinese teacher really well, then it would be ok. Just know that it may not be viewed with the same credibility. Also, is your Chinese teacher at your high school or do you take lessons outside of school
btw I think I might know you lol... (trying to be discreet) do you live in OH and your last name begins with a T and you live in a city that begins with a C and ends in ville? could be dead wrong

i don't know why you guess...it's so wrong
i live in california
i can ask someone else. but i know my chinese teacher will put the best thing for me on the rec,so...

You need to choose a teacher in an academic subject, preferably one from junior or senior year. Foreign language is an academic subject. If you need two recs, it's probably best to have one from humanities and one from math/science, but it's more important to choose the teachers who will give you the best recs.
