<p>generally most colleges require 2 recs. the envelope size doesnt matter since it will be opened and recycled anyway.</p>
<p>i just had my teachers mail them out in the regular sized envelopes that i addressed and stamped for them.</p>
<p>I believe that Cornell uses the Common App, so you would need 2 recommendations.</p>
